Someone, somewhere, somehow has put the words “Holistic healing” through your ears and they buzz around you like an enticing fashionable notion that seems interesting enough to explore or challenge. And then you pause and you ask yourself “Why should I even get into this? I don’t need ‘healing’. I just want to live the way I like to-and I am fine!”
You’re not the only one. As most of us haven’t seen or known anything better, we are comfortably settled in our daily routines with our eating habits and lifestyle. Yet a majority of us suffer from many physical ailments from a very young age. Added to this, is a list of emotional issues that comes with the high stress, technology driven life that we lead. We take recourse to medicines as quick solutions least realising that we are going to get only temporary relief. As far as medicines are concerned, consider the following trivia:
We need to understand that permanent solutions come from understanding the root cause of ailments and then tackling them. In daily life, temptation overshadows sensibility and many of us are victims of a ‘honey trap’ of appealing packages of processed food products, without realising the injustice that we are doing to our body.
The notion of having been granted with just one life and wanting to make the most of it is true- equally important is to sustain that one life to the best potential possible. As intelligent individuals, we have a choice. We either give our body the status of a backyard shed where anything and everything is stored in the hope that someday it will be of some use. Or, we decide to treat it as a sanctimonious place that leads to our stability and growth; while also accepting and understanding that how we treat our body eventually impacts our state of mind too.
‘Holistic healing’, as we introduce here, focuses on all dimensions of an individual’s personality. We feel that there are nine aspects of treating or healing our body. These relate to food, water, breathing, exercise, rest, sleep, stress management, attitude transformation and common sense. What most people do not understand is that a decline in or neglect of any one aspect affects all the others too. Holistic healing, in this context, is done at the following four levels:
Level-1: FITNESS: Strength, stamina, body-fat ratio, physical beauty
Level-2: HEALTH: Organic unity of physical, mental, physiological, emotional and spiritual being
Level-3: WELLNESS: Changes in attitude, thought process and behaviour
Level-4: WELLBEING: Blooming of compassion, affection and numerous other godly attributes
